Earl Scruggs Center Celebrates Music & Stories From the South

by

Cleveland County native Earl Scruggs was a bluegrass legend who popularized the three-finger style of banjo picking. Scruggs is a Grammy winner, Grand Ole Opry member, and inductee in the Country Music Hall of Fame and International Bluegrass Music Hall of Honor.

The Earl Scruggs Center in Shelby explores Scruggs’ innovative career and the community that shaped it, while celebrating how he crossed musical boundaries and defined the voice of the banjo to the world.

Through Jan. 7, 2017, the center features an exhibit titled “Star Spangled Sounds: Stories of Music and the Military.” Visit here for upcoming events.
