National and NC economies continue to create new jobs, but some sectors are doing better than others.
Nationally, construction employment and employment in professional and business services have grown by over three percent over the past 12 months, while manufacturing, trade, transport, utilities and government employment have grown less than one percent.
In NC, overall employment grew slightly faster than nationally, 1.7 percent versus 1.6 percent. Professional and business services saw a 5 percent growth in NC. The construction, manufacturing, financial services, education and health, and leisure and hospitality sectors are growing slower than the nation is overall.
