The U.S. Census Bureau reported that North Carolina had the fifth-fastest population growth from 2016 to 2017. Over the last year, 116,730 new people were added to our state, bringing the population from 10.16 million to 10.27 million.
The U.S. population grew by 2.3 million to 325.7 million with the population of voting-age residents (adults age 18 and over) increasing to 252.1 million (77.4 percent of the 2017 total population).
