Record snowfall blankets NC

by

Snow fell quickly across Central NC last week, and some parts received record totals.

The Triangle receives less than six inches annually. That mark has nearly doubled this January due to the slow-moving system that dumped upwards of 10 inches. That amount rivals only the entire January snowfall totals of 1933 of 10 inches, 1893 of 11 inches, and still the largest January on record in 2000 of 17.9 inches. Mebane in Alamance County saw 9.5 inches, while Elon University measured 8.5 inches.

We still have more than two months to break records across the state.
