A recent report by the Information Technology & Innovation Foundation recognizes that life sciences industries (pharma, biotech, medical devices) are growing.
The report confirms that life sciences employment grew faster in North Carolina than any other state – 46 percent, which accounted for more than 12,900 jobs from 2001 to 2016.
According to the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina website, “North Carolina’s biotechnology industry runs deep and wide, with specialties ranging from pharmaceutical manufacturing to health informatics to crop genetic engineering. Comprised of 600+ companies and over 60,000 employees, our biotech cluster has grown 31 percent since 2001.”
