Inspiring Women

Move over, blonde bombshell. Mattel announced new dolls modeled after and honoring actual historical and contemporary females who have made an impact.

There will be 14 new dolls, including British boxing champion Nicola Adams, NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson, aviator Amelia Earhart, Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim, “Wonder Woman” director Patty Jenkins, and Australian wildlife conservationist Bindi Irwin.

These modern-day Barbie dolls are part of Mattel’s Inspiring Women product line, and each doll will be accompanied by educational information about the woman it’s modeled after. While they will be mass-produced and sold in stores, the company has not announced when.
