North Carolina native and world-ranked SUP racer April Zilg will be defending her title on November 4-6 in the Wrightsville Beach Paddle Club Surf to Sound Challenge.
April spent the last year competing in international waters that she described as protected and flat. She is excited to compete in her homeland because of its challenges with current, tide, wind and ocean swells, and said it’s more technically fulfilling.
Hundreds of paddle boarders from all over the East Coast and Canada are expected to participate in the races, one of the nation’s last major surf competitions of the season.
