Visit the State Theatre of NC in Flat Rock

by
Flat Rock Playhouse

A band of traveling performers known as the Vagabond Players purchased an eight-acre lot in Flat Rock in 1952 to build a theatre and drama school. In 1961, the North Carolina General Assembly designated Flat Rock Playhouse as the State Theatre of North Carolina.

Today the organization operates the 500-seat Mainstage in Flat Rock and the 250-seat Playhouse Downtown in Hendersonville. Offerings include plays, concerts and a family series.

Flat Rock Playhouse hosts over 98,000 patrons annually. Upcoming events include “Clue: The Musical,” 3 Redneck Tenors, and a concert series featuring country, pop and shag music.
