Walk memory lane

by Michael Polzella
Riverside Cemetery

It’s the eternal home for the rich and famous, and for the poor and unknown. Located in Asheville, the Riverside Cemetery sits quietly and is often overlooked by residents and visitors.

But the cemetery is a time capsule of those who have made a mark on North Carolina and those who have loved the state, its people and its culture.

Walk the grounds. You’ll see the final resting place of famous authors Thomas Wolfe and William S. Porter (O. Henry), Governor Zebulon B. Vance and many more. Spread over 87 acres, the cemetery is truly a walk down memory lane.
