Merlefest is a family-friendly outdoor music festival founded in 1988 in memory of Eddie Merle Watson, son of legendary guitarist Doc Watson. The festival features “tradition plus” music, meaning traditional Appalachian music plus whatever other styles artists want to play.
This year’s event will be held April 28 through May 1 on the campus of Wilkes Community College and features such artists as John Prine, Old Crow Medicine Show, John Oates, Jason Isbell, the Kruger Brothers, Donna the Buffalo, Jim Avett and more.
