Peruse pottery and antiques in Hickory

by Michael Polzella
Catawba Pottery

The Catawba Valley is known for producing traditional alkaline-based stoneware that is utilitarian and artful. The 21st Annual Catawba Valley Pottery and Antiques Festival showcases the art form by bringing over 115 potters and vendors to the Hickory Metro Convention Center on March 24.

This juried event will feature historical pottery, textiles, baskets and furniture, along with contemporary artwork, demonstrations, videos and lectures.

The nonprofit festival benefits the Historical Association of Catawba County and the North Carolina Pottery Center. Tickets are $6 for adults and $2 for children ages 3-12. Attend the March 23 Preview Party for $45.
