Valdese Celebrates Heritage

by

In the town of Valdese stands a winery built in 1930, where an all-volunteer staff still employs manual methods of wine production. Now that’s not something you see every day, but it’s far from being the only unusual thing about Valdese.

Find out more at the Waldensian Festival, honoring the town founders who suffered years of religious persecution and exile in Switzerland before battling their way back to their native Northern Italy.

And then moving to North Carolina — can’t blame ‘em.

The fest is Aug. 12-13, complete with British car show, bocce tournament, and the Great Waldensian Footrace.
