After surviving breast cancer and struggling with familial rejection for being a single mom, Lee Rankin needed to make a change. A chance encounter with an alpaca at the Kentucky State Fair inspired her with the decision for what she wanted that change to be: a mountaintop farm filled with alpacas.
Located in Banner Elk, North Carolina, that very farm, now known as Apple Hill Farm, houses a variety of animals and people. Visitors are able to tour the location, purchase any of its products, or attend various events (for all ages), including special shearing days and Christmas celebrations.
