When it comes to pets, Gen Z believes a happy pet is more important than a happy partner.

A survey of 2,000 pet owners conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Synchrony also found that respondents spend big bucks on at least one frivolous item a year, like a doggie day spa vacation.

Furthermore, they would be willing to give up a lot if it meant free pet expenses: 48% would forgo romance, 38% would work for their worst boss again and 36% would give up their paycheck.

Synchrony’s Jonathan Wainberg says the majority of pet owners view them as children.
