Running a half or full marathon is all about mental and physical preparation. Here are some tips to help you prepare:

• Focus on finishing the race strong, rather than beating a time.

• Pace yourself.

• Get your gear: Invest and train in a quality long-distance running shoe, bring music, a hydration belt, light and comfortable apparel, and sun protection.

• Review the course map to know what to expect.

• Find your motivation and stick to it – hold onto a mantra or phrase to empower you throughout the distance.
