Mental Illness Awareness Week is Oct. 7-13. Eighteen percent of adults in America (43 million people) have a mental health condition according to the report “The State of Mental Health in America 2018.”

And, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, everyone is directly or indirectly affected through family, friends or coworkers; yet stigma is still widespread. The week’s 2018 theme is Cure Stigma.

Oct. 10 is World Mental Health Day. The World Health Organization is committed to improving mental health of individuals and society and to the protection of human rights of people affected by mental disorders.
