Got your REAL ID?

In early 2018 The Department of Homeland Security’s REAL ID Act was put into motion, requiring states to adopt better security measures for driver’s licenses and other identification cards. Before flying, make sure your driver’s license has been updated to the REAL ID, or bring an acceptable alternative form of identification, like a passport.

North Carolina is compliant with the REAL ID Act and recommends updating your identification card soon – before 2020. DMV lines are already long, and if all North Carolinians wait to make the switch, an estimated 220,000 additional people will be heading to the DMV monthly.
