North Carolina earned the number six spot, moving up two spots from last year, in Area Development magazine’s ranking of best states to do business.
North Carolina’s highly competitive labor environment, cooperative and responsive state government, and advanced workforce development factored into its high ranking.
Georgia topped the list for the fifth year in a row.
The top 10 are:
1. Georgia
2. Texas
3. Alabama
4. Tennessee
5. South Carolina
6. North Carolina
7. Louisiana
8. Mississippi
9. Indiana
10. Florida
The Tar Heel state also ranked eighth in best overall cost of doing business on this year’s list.
