Charlotte Entrepreneur Launches Fund for African-American Entrepreneurs

by

A Charlotte entrepreneur has established a $100,000 microloan fund for African-American entrepreneurs. The goal is promoting diversity in the local technology industry.

Sherrell Dorsey, a journalist and the founder of popular technology newsletter ThePLUG, collaborated with The Carolina Small Business Development Fund to create the initiative. It will offer capital and business services to black entrepreneurs, as well as counseling and technical assistance. Applications may be submitted here.

“We are proud to take a leading role in expanding entrepreneurship and startup principles within our city’s most overlooked and under-resourced founders and communities,” Dorsey said in a statement.
