The first Wegmans store in the Triangle has been approved, and three more stores are proposed for Cary and Raleigh.

The 130,000-square-foot building will fill 14.7 acres on US 15-501. The Chapel Hill Town Council unanimously voted in favor of the project after discussions regarding parking, traffic and neighboring establishments.

Chapel Hill and Orange County will provide Wegmans $4 million as incentives for creating 185 full-time and 413 part-time jobs and meeting tax revenue goals. The food market is expected to generate over $1.8 million in property and sales taxes each year.
