In a recent blog post, I shared thoughts on email marketing done wrong. Furthermore, I talked about how to “earn a spot in inboxes” – something content marketers should carefully consider before proceeding with any email marketing campaign.
Meanwhile, here is a brief snapshot of some cardinal rules:
1. Subscribe to the “80/20 rule.” In other words, spend much more time offering insight and commentary than you do on blatant (and annoying) sales pitches.
2. Speak to human beings like they are, in fact, human beings.
3. Proceed with caution when utilizing purchased mail lists. Trust me on this one.
