North Carolina: Global Leader in Plant Sciences Innovation

by

Our state is becoming a global leader in plant sciences research and innovation, thanks in large part to the Golden LEAF Foundation’s $45 million grant to North Carolina State University in support of the Plant Sciences Initiative.

The Initiative, a partnership between NC State University and the NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, allows scientists, the government and industies to collaborate to conquer agricultural challenges, like doubling food production for population growth in 35 years.

The Golden LEAF Foundation grant, $85 million from the Connect NC Bond and $9 million from 40 agricultural groups make the project possible.
