In 2005, a college grad began teaching at an impoverished school. Upset by how many children did not have breakfast or proper clothing, she was motivated to find a way to provide resources.
Her family helped gather coats for each child before it got cold. After delivering the coats, they were shortly returned. Families couldn’t believe someone would give their child a coat.
So, they put a note in the pocket that said, “This coat is your child’s to keep. It is a gift sent with love from the community.” That is what Note in the Pocket is – the community.
