You may recognize the Lotus Bakeries brand from the Biscoff shortcrust cookies often distributed on airplanes. According to the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, the Belgium-based company is opening its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Mebane.
Lotus Bakeries will invest more than $48 million at the NC Industrial Center site and plans to create 60 jobs by 2020. The new facility will be hiring bakers, packagers, quality assurance specialists and other employees, and will add nearly $2.1 million in annual payroll.
