North Carolina represented in 2018 Winter Olympics

On February 9, the 2018 Winter Olympics opening ceremony will take place in Pyeongchang, South Korea, kicking-off the 17 days of Olympic competition. South Korea previously hosted the 1988 Games.

This year, three Olympians on Team USA hail from North Carolina: Bobby Sanguinetti, Heather Bergsma and Kimani Griffin. Sanguinetti is a defender on the ice hockey team, a Wilmington native, and newcomer to the Olympics.

Hailing from High Point and Winston-Salem respectively, Bergsma and Griffin represent the USA in long track speed skating. Like Sanguinetti, it’s also Griffin’s first Olympic Games. See how our team fares this February!
