Escape the urban jungle for the serene forest of Eno River State Park, a 3,900-acre refuge with secluded trails and soothing sounds of the river for which it’s named.
It’s easy to take advantage of the dog- and family-friendly park, with five access points and 28 miles of trails. Stroll along the Bobbitt Hole Trail before taking a plunge in a cool swimming hole or stay dry and appreciate an aerial view of the river’s rapids on the Buckquarter Creek Trail.
You can also kayak and canoe on the Eno, though shallow water can make it difficult.
