You don’t have to be Batman to enjoy Bat Cave, North Carolina. Located near Chimney Rock State Park just outside of Pisgah National Forest, it is the largest granite cave in North America, ranging about 300 feet long and almost 90 feet high.
The cavern is also home to an endangered species called the Indiana bat and is protected and operated by The Nature Conservancy.
Due to the conservancy’s efforts to protect the Indiana bat, entering the cave is no longer permitted. Still, the town, which has shops, wineries, art galleries, and restaurants, is surrounded by beautiful hikes and waterfalls.
