My five-year-old granddaughter stepped off the school bus from kindergarten and seemed troubled. The boys in the back seats had shared a theory with her that wasn’t true. We talked it through at bedtime. She felt better – I didn’t. 

With more access to information than ever before, Americans choose to watch news channels that reinforce their own opinions or beliefs.  Surveys show 10% of Americans believe the moon landing was faked. Others insist the world is flat. Countless believe in Bigfoot. 

The world can be a scary place. Talking through difficult subjects takes time and effort, but it’s worth it.
