Like Shel Silverstein’s “The Giving Tree,” our trees are universal givers. They silently stand and provide clean air, shade to cool our homes, beautiful recreation areas, animal habitats, erosion control and much more.
Arbor Day is one day each year when we can all give back to our trees. Communities across the state will celebrate North Carolina’s Arbor Day by planting trees, organizing park cleanup days, or holding festivals to recognize the benefits that trees give to our communities. Whether you participate or not, Arbor Day teaches us all the importance of planting and caring for our life-giving trees.
