A recent report by PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. suggests optimism is related to job growth among North Carolina businesses. According to the report, 27% of businesses surveyed expect to add staff between now and April, compared with 13% during the previous six months.
However, this optimism is offset by a common consideration – the lack of a fully skilled workforce. According to PNC Economist Mekael Teshome, “the biggest challenge is that candidates don’t have the technical skills specific” to the unfilled jobs.
According to Convergent Nonprofit Solutions, workforce development should be a critical part of any economic development initiative.
