Airbnb, a marketplace for people to list and book unique homes around the world, hosted 404,000 guests in North Carolina over the last year, a mind-blowing 118% growth from 2015.
Asheville, Charlotte and Raleigh topped the rankings for the most hosts and visits, with a combined total of 157,000. Altogether, the state generated $51 million in revenue for hosts and $7.7 million in tax revenue.
