With over 50 colleges and universities in North Carolina, there’s no question why we rank fifth in the nation for higher education. According to a recent study, North Carolina has the ninth highest in-state attendance at 65%.
At 10 percentage points above the national average, over 65,000 high school graduates attended one of the state’s two- or four-year colleges in 2014. North Carolina also works to make college affordable. In 2014-15, the average net price of attendance was $11,239, which is one of the reasons why the state retains so many of its own students.
