The 16th annual Economic Forecast Forum, sponsored by the North Carolina Chamber and the North Carolina Bankers Association, provided reasons for economic optimism.
A panel — including Harry Davis of the NC Bankers Association, John Connaughton of UNC Charlotte, Mark Vitner of Wells Fargo, and Mike Walden of NC State — agreed that the state’s economy will continue to grow in 2018, and that it will thrive even without landing a so-called “whale,” such as the highly touted Amazon headquarters or a Toyota auto factory.
“North Carolina’s economy is not driven by whales,” said Davis. “We have a very diverse economy.”
