As Mike Tyson said, “Everybody has a plan until you get punched in the mouth.” I don’t make it a habit to quote “Iron Mike,” but this is the perfect statement to illustrate what life is like in the middle of a crisis. Your plan may be sound, but crises are unpredictable.
In a recent blog post, I highlighted some of the important tasks involved in all stages of crisis management planning, such as:
• Establish a crisis command center.
• Activate the command center, schedule a briefing (if required).
• Establish lines of authority, develop messaging.
• Evaluate afterwards: What did we learn?
