Opened in 1945 when there were not many other African-American-owned businesses in Indianola, Club Ebony has succeeded through three owners and decades of legendary music.
You can listen to the blues all over the Delta, but Club Ebony serves as one of the more historic stops on the old Chitlin Circuit that launched the career of many famous African-American musicians.
Stars who have graced the Club Ebony stage include James Brown, Ray Charles, Count Basie, Ike Turner – and of course B.B. King, who met his second wife, Sue Carol Hall, there and purchased it in 2008 to preserve its historic legacy.
