Originally launched for the 2008 model year, the R35 GT-R was one heckuva supercar from a non-Italian brand.
Despite having a “modest” twin-turbo V6 engine and two usable backseats, the car lapped the deadly Nurburgring in a mere 7:40, faster than any mass-produced car at the time. Plus, it cost just $69,850 at launch (~$108,000 in 2025) – a shocking bargain for an exotic, head-turning halo car.
Strangely, the GT-R received hardly any updates during its 18-year run and died with a whimper. But perhaps it’ll one day reemerge from the ocean like its scaly namesake and exact revenge on its rivals.
