Safety Tips for Driving in Bad Weather Conditions

by

North Carolina roads can be treacherous places to drive when the snow starts to fall. If you need to drive during winter weather, keep these tips in mind.

• Stay alert and focused.

• Increase following distance; reduce speed and leave plenty of room between your car and the car in front of you.

• Avoid sudden moves; sudden moves are more likely to cause an accident than avoid one.

• Stock plenty of windshield washer fluid; precipitation can obscure visibility.

We hope that you will avoid driving in unsafe conditions if possible this winter. If you do have to drive, exercise extreme caution.
