What would you do with an extra $1,000 a month? Would you open a savings account? Finally start that side hustle or hobby? $1,000 is a lot of money, but it’s still $500 less than what most Americans spend every month on non-essential items according to USA TODAY.

Seem crazy? It is, but we’re all guilty. A subscription here, a takeout dinner there, a few online shopping trips and boom – where did your money go?

Take time for some financial “spring cleaning” and you might just find some extra dough. Budgeting apps like Mint are a great place to start.
