Rare Disease Foundation Marks 60 Years

by Michael Polzella

Heard of Ataxia? No, it’s not a foreign cab. It’s a group of often fatal, degenerative neurological disorders. Approximately 150,000 people in the US are affected.

According to the National Ataxia Foundation (NAF), “People with Ataxia struggle with coordination. The nervous system controlling movement and balance are affected, including fingers, hands, arms, legs, speech and eye movements.”

This rare disease is progressive, affecting both genders and all ages. There’s no cure.

For the last 60 years, the NAF has worked to improve the lives of persons affected by Ataxia through support, education and funding worldwide research. Support NAF here.
