Scottish celebrations from a social distance

Scottish roots

With Franklin’s annual Taste of Scotland Festival and Braveheart 5K quashed by stay-at-home orders, we must temporarily revamp all celebratory measures.

Western North Carolina’s mountains are home to the largest Scottish-American community this side of the Atlantic, so the decisions to open a museum and host a festival here were easy ones. The Scottish Tartans Museum is the only one of its kind stateside, and a worthy addition to your future travels.

Until next year’s merriment begins, take a virtual tour of Scotland, try some recipes (paired with your favorite whisky) and answer the oh-so interesting question, what’s your tartan?
