“Wouldn’t it be fascinating to use cartoons to explain mRNA vaccines?”
This innovative idea united Dr. MarkAlain Dery, an infectious diseases specialist; Dr. Eric ‘Doc’ Griggs, a community health specialist; and David Roston, a public health filmmaker. The trio had zero experience producing animations, but why let practicalities inhibit big dreams?
In 2021 alone, the trio’s NoiseFilter team completed seven educational animations: two explain mRNA vaccines and COVID-19 variants, three describe the science of HIV, one rock n’ roll PSA teaches about Hepatitis C and another promotes diversity among clinical trials participants.
Their work is supported by Access Health Louisiana.
