Located on Lawson Street in Durham, the North Carolina Central University Art Museum proudly carries out its mission of collecting, exhibiting, conserving and studying the art of African-Americans.
In addition to hosting special exhibitions, the museum boasts a permanent collection of more than 200 paintings, sculptures, prints and drawings reflecting the African-American experience, as well as examples of African art. Each winter the museum also offers Durham’s Finest, an annual show displaying artwork by students in Durham Public Schools.
The museum is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 9 am-5 pm and Sundays from 2 pm-5 pm.
