Born in 1926, Andy Griffith, hails from the tiny mountain town of Mount Airy, North Carolina, which pays tribute to him and his famous show.

The Andy Griffith show started in 1960 and aired for eight years, taking place in the fictional town of Mayberry based on Mount Airy. Today visitors can learn more about the actor and the show as they visit places like the Andy Griffith Museum, the Old Mayberry Jail and even Griffith’s childhood home.

Griffith’s career extended beyond the hit show to include television, movies, writing, producing and even singing to span seven decades of success.
