The Sneads Ferry Shrimp Festival, August 13-14, celebrates its 46th anniversary this year. A tradition that began as a way to honor the local fishing community now draws more than 10,000 people annually.
This year’s festival will feature arts and crafts, food vendors, beer and wine, fireworks, pageants, a parade, shrimp-heading contest, and a Car, Truck and Bike Show on August 14.
Just to whet your appetites, the fishing village annually catches over 385 tons of shrimp, 25 tons of flounder, and approximately 493 tons of other delicious seafood like clams, scallops, oysters, mullet, grouper and crabs.
