Basil is in high demand, but it is also hard to grow and difficult to distribute fresh. At their American Heartland Acres farm, they grow their basil in a greenhouse equipped with an aquaponic system to naturally fertilize the water plumbed into the plants’ roots.
A healthier, fresher product is the result, and they believe their ability to deliver fresh basil within a certain time after harvesting is what sets them apart.
