Matt Marsh and his wife love life on their farm where they grow fresh, organic basil. But Matt knows that basil, unlike other culinary herbs, presents certain challenges.
Basil is in high demand, but it is also hard to grow and difficult to distribute fresh. At their American Heartland Acres farm, they grow their basil in a greenhouse equipped with an aquaponic system to naturally fertilize the water plumbed into the plants’ roots.
A healthier, fresher product is the result, and they believe their ability to deliver fresh basil within a certain time after harvesting is what sets them apart.
