I’ve been fortunate to travel extensively, and whether I’m stateside or abroad, food tops the list.
It is easy to talk about James Beard winners and Michelin-rated cuisine, but the little holes in the wall and off-the-beaten-path places are some of my favorites. Nearly every morning or afternoon growing up in Hickory, North Carolina, I had to stop by what natives call Homers. Actually called Windy City Grill, it is a staple in the lives of those who grew up there.
Ask for owner and my friend Bo Starnes when you order the liver mush sandwich.
